January 2k15 Faves

Hey Ya'll!
Even though it's not the end of january, I wanted to post a blog about my faves before I get sucked into finessing the colors for my thesis.

This month's favorites include but are not limited to:

Nars Sample Size Blush and Contour Pallet
Because i'm too poor for the full size one.

Make Your Own Luck: A DIY Guide to Graphic Design and Illustration

Bitch Planet Comic
Absolutely in love with the three issues out of this series.

Good Walking Boots
Because snow.

Warm Socks over Tights
Because snow.

Super High Waisted Black Topshop Jeans
Loving these pants, and I'm not a lady who likes pants very easily.

January Least Favorites
Buying watches that don't work by the time you get home (pictured above), Endless winter, and computers that crash while I'm trying to watch the bachelor.

Hope you guys like this wrap up for the month and are keeping warm!

Life Update: Working for the Weekend

Hey ya'll!
Just wanted to provide a little life update and provide more information on what you'll find on this blog.
I recently started working at Purl Soho, a yarn and fabric store in soho. You may know them from the Purl Bee, a blog that posts diy tutorials based on their products. I'm super excited to work here and hope it will up the production quality of my tutorials on this blog. Expect to see more knitting sewing and embroidery, along with updates on my thesis work.

The first tutorial i'll be trying to get a better grasp on my knitting is this ribbed scarf from the bee for my boyfriend. I'll post updates on my process as I go!

Hope to have more interesting updates on this blog soon.

Style: Retro Rodeo Mom

Hey ya'll! Long time no see. Sorry about that, I've been getting back in the brooklyn groove and several yucky snowstorms have gotten in my way of cute outfits. Normally I'm viscerally against wearing jeans but these high waisted puppies make me feel like the hottest mom in town.
Also I've been experimenting with bumper bangs, which i'm becoming addicted to. If you want I can post a tutorial!

Outfit Specs:
Blouse- Modcloth
Necklace- Modcloth (sold out)
Jeans- Topshop
Glasses- Rayban

Currently working on getting a job, finishing thesis, and basically figuring out the entire rest of my life. It's stressful, it's scary, and it's exciting.
Wish me some luck!

Style Feature: Rachel Antonoff

This morning my lovely boss at BUST sent me on a small mission to pick up some dresses for a photoshoot from the Rachel Antonoff offices in the city. I bundled up, faced the tundra, and walked the 16 blocks it took me to get to their warm offices, and found the eye candy there TOTALLY worth the walk. The 2015 spring collection is both architectural and organic in a very floral way. It's the perfect modern vintage that I swoon over.

Hopefully these spring designs brightened up your cold winter afternoon. Stay safe in this crazy storm, I know I'll be hiding under lots of blankets tonight!

Galentines Day Handmade Gift Guide for your BFF

One of the many fictional women I aspire to be more like is the incredibly precocious Leslie Knope, deputy directer of Parks and Recreation, and the woman who coined the holiday "Galentines Day." If you don't already know, Galentines day is meant to be spent celebrating your lady friendships the day before valentines day. My best friend's birthday is right before Galentines, so I usually lump the two together because I'm a bad person. I love the idea of setting aside time to bask in the warm glow of friendship, so I put together this gift guide for Galentines (or your bff's birthday) so you can give that perfect present. We all can't make mosaic portraits using our favorite soda beverage, but we can buy handmade, which is almost as good.

If you guys are planing anything special for Galentines or even Valentines let me know! I'd love to hear about your fancy dates, platonic and romantic alike.

Pinball Lights and Taxidermy Sweethearts

This weekend I had the pleasure of visiting one of my favorite places in my home town: Artisan Works, a dramatic showcase of local work in an absolutely inspiring setting. There's painting, sculptures, photographs, and works of taxidermy splattered across the walls and ceiling working in both a harmonious and competitive way with each other. It's truly one of the most inspiring places I've ever been, and it always feels a bit like coming home when walking through the doors.

Outfit Specs:
Jeweled Chambray Blouse - Loft
Skirt - Old (similar)
Black Tights - HUE

DIY: Winter Pom Pom Crown

Handmade pom poms are some of my favorite things to decorate and accessorize with. They look great on a garland, pinned on a sweater, and even on top of your head! This easy pom pom crown tutorial is a fun wintery look that you can make using those leftover balls of yarn.

Hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial! If you make it, make sure to share it with me via instagram, twitter, or email!
